With long-lasting materials to maximize product life, Transtech engineers its bus and train electronics to be resilient in harsh environments.  

Transtech’s strenuous design and manufacturing process accounts for the durability of our products. Every item is treated as a new design challenge. For example, our bus electronics footswitches, which are often exposed to mud, water and snow, are potted with epoxy for protection, and are ergonomically designed for comfort. Testing for Bus/Train Electronics

With a projected twenty to thirty year life-span on bus and railway train electronics, product durability is paramount. Transtech products undergo two testing phases:

  1. Prototype Qualification Testing —Before manufacturing, prototypes of our bus and railway electronics are tested in conditions that simulate everyday usage. Prototypes undergo temperature cycling, for instance, to expose the product to extreme heat and cold over time. Other tests include shock and vibration testing to determine product resiliency, fire and fume toxicity tests for safety and EMI testing for electromagnetic compatibility. Tests on Transtech’s bus / train control modules and electronics are conducted in-house and in external laboratories to ensure the reliability of our bus / rail solutions. Prototypes can be designed to comply with specific standards, and tests modified according to need.

  2. Routine Unit Testing—In the second phase, each individual unit undergoes routine testing to verify functionality. All of our off-the shelf bus and railway train electronics are service-proven units which have already been intensively tested prior to release.  Burn-in tests can be achieved during this testing phase to check parts soldering.
